General/newbie FAQ:
What is IRC? How do I connect?
IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is a form of instant communication over the Internet. It is mainly designed for group communication in discussion forums called channels, but also allows one-to-one communication. Slacked is one of the many providers of this service. You can connect by using an IRC client to connect to irc.slacked.org, or by using our CGI:IRC client.
What is a channel OP?
A Channel Operator is a user with privileged access to a specific channel. They have the '@' prefix next to their names and normally enforce channel rules, and can kick out bad people.
What is an IRCOp?
IRC Operators are users with privileged access to the entire network. These users are tasked with enforcing the network rules and some help maintain server integrity.
Can I be IRCOp?
No.

Security FAQ:
Who is Z?
Z is a friendly bot that tries to prevent spam and floodbots from attacking the network. He will Z-Line harmful connections, keeping the network clean for legitimate users. Z enjoys haikus and strolls around the network. For more information about Z and it's commands, see the Z article.
What is a K-Line?
A K-Line is a network ban set on a person's IP address or hostmask. They can be automatically set by Z, or manually by the network administration.
What is #Sticky, and why is it the biggest channel?
Most spambots and floodbots will join the largest channel on the network, and #Sticky is designed to be the "spamtrap". You should not join that channel, as anyone that messages it will be frozen for 15 minutes. For more information on Z functions, see the Z article.
Why do _SlackedZ bots join my channel?
These bots are for anti-spam. Occasionally these bots will join the channels to make sure there aren't any spambots. If it gets a message from a spambot, it will get Z-Lined. Think of them as tumbleweeds with laser-beams. This activity is adjustable. For more information on Z functions, see the Z article.
Why are some of my ports being scanned when I connect?
Some ports will be scanned when you connect in order to detect open proxies. Open proxies are proxies without any kind of access control to prevent malicious users from abusing them. Proxies are typically used to evade network bans or flood the network. Users connecting to the network through an open proxy will be banned automatically. The ban message will contain a URL explaining the steps you can take to get back on the network.
Can I use TOR? What about BNC?
TOR is not permitted. BNC's are allowed, but their IP range will be Z-Lined if they are used to abuse the network. Refer to the acceptable use policy for more information.
Network Ban FAQ:
I've been banned from the network! Why?
Most network bans are set on users who have broken the AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) and have proven themselves to be a threat or annoyance to the network. You are free to contact us if you wish to discuss your ban, however we are under no obligation to remove any ban. The use of the network is a privilege, not a right.
If you wish to discuss the reasons behind your ban please contact admin@slacked.org. Do NOT attempt to evade, doing so will lead to the duration of the ban being increased and/or your ISP being contacted and/or the ban being made permanent.
I was banned for no reason, or I don't agree with my ban.
If you were banned by an IRC Operator or a security bot and want to dispute it, you can contact us and we will try to resolve it.

Privacy FAQ:
Is my IP safe when I connect to Slacked?
Absolutely. All hostnames are cloaked by default and you can even request a vHost for additional anonymity. There is a privacy policy in place which prevents staff from sharing your IP unless they believe you are in violation of the Acceptable Use Policy. If you believe your IP has been misused, please contact us, as offenses are taken very seriously.
Does Slacked log my channel, private message, or notices?
No conversations are logged by our servers or security bots. Channels will only be logged if the founder requests channel statistics.
